About EVCCYFS Eagle Village Community Center (EVCC) was created in 2001 to address the specific issues of low academic performance, poverty, and violence among the students and their families. Through the fulfillment of its mission, “to create a safe place to support the development of the 'whole child', both in and out of the classroom, through academic, cultural, recreational, mental health and family services.” In 2009, EVCC established non-profit status and began operating under its’ new name, Eagle Village Community Center Youth and Family Services, Inc. (EVCCYFS). EVCCYFS continues to address the issues of low academic performance and poverty by offering integrated and well-rounded services, free of charge, to students and their families. EVCCYFS offers three services: After-School Program, Mental Health Services, and Family Services. The After School Program (ASP)
The After School Program (ASP) offers academic, cultural, and recreational programs, during after school hours, to help students reach their full academic potential. These clubs not only provide opportunities for students to gain knowledge and skills they may not receive in the traditional school day but they also support student learning and enhance study skills while focusing on student achievement and state standards. ASP also provides homework support. Highly qualified and motivated credentialed teachers and tutors assist students one-on-one and in small group settings. Mental Health Services (MHS)
The Mental Health Services (MHS) provides a team of counselors, therapists, case managers and other support staff to help students deal with difficult issues; to include but not limited to personal, family, academic, and social problems at school and home. Services include: individual counseling, case management, support groups, and referrals to other programs if needed. Through MHS, students learn various methods of coping with social and emotional issues. The goal is to provide all students with safe, caring, and confidential support so they can be successful in both school and life. Family Resource Center (FRC)
The goal of the Family Resource Center (FRC) is to create a support system for parents. The FRC seeks to help parents and caregivers stay informed about school and community events as well as receive help with the basic resources and/or skills needed to meet the day-to-day challenges of family life. FRC seeks to engage and assist parents by providing: · Parent Meetings · Adult Enrichment Workshops · Adult Education · Family-Based Activities · Performance Events · Volunteer Opportunities
