  • Testing Schedules in April and May

    Beginning on Tuesday, April 21, Montera students will begin taking the SBAC Test, the new standardized tests that replace the CST/STAR tests previously used in California. The new tests developed by the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) will be administered online using Chromebook computers. All SBAC testing days will be minimum days and our daily bell schedules will be highly modified during testing days in April and May. Please click on the icon to the left for detailed information…

  • This Friday, May 1: 8th Grade Panoramic Photo Day

    The 8th grade panoramic photo is being taken Friday May 1st during 6th period. The photo is huge - 10 inches x 30 inches! Great for autographs. Order forms were distributed in 8th grade history classes. The pre-order form must be completed and turned in directly to the Lifetouch photographer on Friday in order to obtain a copy of this memorable group photo! Cash, money order or check made out to Lifetouch. For late orders, contact Lifetouch directly.

    Now is the time to order the 2014-2015 Montera Middle School Yearbook! The yearbook will be 80 full-color pages of class photos, sports, clubs, dances, spirit weeks, holidays, and other great memories. The yearbook can only be purchased by ordering ahead. Extra books will not be purchased, so the only way to buy one is to complete this form and return with full payment. The cost of the book is $35. Books will be delivered in early June.     Montera is hosting its 2nd annual Career Day on Wednesday, June 3, and we need your help to make it a success. Do you do something you love? Or even just like a lot? Great! Whatever your career –– engineer, carpenter, paramedic, baker, lawyer, you name it –– we would love for you to speak to our students about what you do, and then answer their questions.   • Oakland A’s Step Up to the Plate for Education!

    Students, parents, friends and families will have the opportunity to purchase special fundraising tickets for select A’s games and portion of each ticket will go directly back to our school. To purchase tickets and view the available games, please click on the image to the left.

Montera Middle School is located on 19 wooded acres in the Montclair area of Oakland. Our diverse student population have come from 58 schools in and outside of Oakland, including private, public and charter. Montera’s school faculty is diverse as well, combining both new and veteran teachers. Montera prides itself on educating the whole child both academically and socially. We are committed to maintain high academic standards while working with students at all academic levels.We are dedicated to ensuring that all students have equal access to a broad-based curriculum in an environment that fosters dignity and respect for all.  There are many things to take pride in at Montera but we are most proud of the level of commitment and involvement on the part of our parents.  The support they give to our electives program, interventions and extra curricular activities makes the school an environment where our kids can continue to grow.
